After 40 years of pretty much exclusively wearing Adidas shell-toes (thanks Run DMC!), Vans and Converse, my feet are fucked and I've had to come over to the dark side with some fitted fat-soled New Balance runners. Oh my! It's like walking on air and I love it lol
I just listened to the Stuff You Should Know about Adidas and Puma yesterday. It's really quite interesting. Adidas got it's start from Jesse Owens at the '36 Olympics.
Ooh...thanks for the podcast rec! Just subscribed. I'm currently working my way through the 500 episode backlog of No Such Thing As A Fish which is basically QI from the TV but with extra swearing :)
I love love love NSTAAF. It’s so damn good.
That is my absolute favourite podcast, I have listened to the whole lot at least twice.
Also, Run DMC basically brought Adidas into the spotlight. They were the first band to be sponsored by an apparel company.
Run DMC signed a $1.6m (£1.05m) deal with the brand in the 1980s after endorsing it in numerous songs. It was the first time a rap group had signed with a major sportswear brand and marked the beginning of Adidas’ long-running affiliation with hip-hop.
I just want to find shoes wide enough for my sore little toe 🥺
Book a fitting with Athlete's Foot and they'll recommend some brands and styles. I went with NB in the end, but the Hoka range felt roomier width wise.
Haha I just switched to adidas trainers from vans. Bloody love ‘em. Plus 40 bucks on a deal is pretty good!
