Apparently you don't actually have to insert the card - just hold it over the screen. Then do the PIN thing if needed. That's what I do if I have to go to Coles.
Wow. No one told me that. Usually I have cash or tap and go but because it was over $200 it told me to insert.
I've never done a shop at Coles worth more than about $50 so I haven't had to actually insert my card. Also the hover technique works on myki top ups too.
I have to put my card in even for the small change I need to do laundry as visa debit won't allow cash withdrawal for some reason.
I felt really good the first time I used tap and go and i still do. Now everybody uses their phone but that's ok because I've always been a step behind. Haha.
What happens if you drop your phone and it's cactus. I didn't tap for years either cos I tend to lose things.
Not the original commenter but I don't pay with my phone because if I lose it/it gets stolen, I have to notify my bank: via the app on my phone 🤔🤦🏼♀️ I don't want to ponder myself in that dilemma!
