Most of the users were just artificially inflated from when they copied over accounts from Instagram anyway
That really has become Lemmy's favorite conspiracy theory.
What? The fact that Instagram accounts were used to seed Threads' userbase is straight out of Instagram's announcement of Instagram's new text feature called... Threads.

Feel free to quote the statement for me.
Threads has no separate account from Instagram, so having an account with threads is equivalent to having activated the threads feature.
How did they lose half of their users if most of them weren't real users to begin with?
