I watched the Council meeting for the first time in a long time because of this. I was absolutely appalled. Cr Ryan Murphy's response was absolutely appalling. He blamed cycling advocacy groups, played the tone policing game, and talked at length about how he has to prioritise the needs of drivers rather than safety of others, and he refuses to ever do something that might inconvenience drivers.

Meanwhile, Council repeatedly orders its officers to remove memorials to cyclists who died on major roads. Major roads where the Council has repeatedly been urged to do something and has refused. He complains that people say he has blood on his hands, but it's really quite simple. That's because he does. Plain and simple.

Thanks is for taking the time to bother. I'm Gen X, Vote Green and am a cyclist albeit I don't live there anymore I do have family who all think cyclists are a fair game amd cycling should be banned along with The Greens .

I was a cyclist like before I started voting Green. Who else would I support after the toxicity from the likes of Ryan?

None of the LNP are worth your time, that's for sure. Some of them might be less extreme than Schrinner and Ryan, but they all vote strictly in line with their ilk.

The Greens are by far the most outspoken in defence of cyclists and in favour of good cycling infrastructure. Labor is kinda middling, doing quite a bit of really good individual projects, but not being especially great at the wider systemic change that we really need to make fundamental improvements to cycling and city planning across the board.

I dunno where you live now, but down in Sydney the current Lord Mayor seems really good too.
