If their plan is to turn MacOS into a locked-down kiddy pool of an OS like ipadOS then I'm out and I'd imagine many others would be too.

I've said it before, this is exactly what I think they're trying to do. They've already neutered root a lot and will continue until it's completely useless, made it harder to install non- MacOS App store software, soldered everything down and switched to custom silicon to make it harder to install other OSs.

All in the name of ~~un-repairability and lock-in~~ "performance and security". They're doing it bit by bit to normalize a computer not really being a computer.
