It depends, and there’s no middle ground ….

  • I have a great job but we might go public in 2025. So cue the layoffs
  • National Politics will have more impact on our lives than ever: will it be fascism trying to break give or will it be a democracy trying to improve our lives?
  • My youngest is graduating high school in 2025: lots of pride but an empty lonely home and huge tuition bills coming my way

If you don't already know a close crew of friends, I would suggest starting an Empty Nesters In Training group.

Get together once or twice a month or so, makes the transition easier for when your kid graduates HS for college.

And also good luck with the job!

Most layoffs when companies go public are usually to support staff. They don't want to do anything that can affect revenue for the first few years.

Yes, the downside of DevOps/DevSecOps. For short term thinkers, the whole point is to automate yourself out of a job
