I'm thinking about maybe upgrading my phone. I have a Google Pixel 3, and it's fine, just the battery dies quicker. Also the back glass on it is smashed a bit. But I'm just wondering if I should upgrade either to the 6 or 7. Or am I just thinking I need the "newest best thing". But also Google has (stupidly imho) stopped support for the Google Pixel 3. So if I at least buy a 6 or 7 I've got a few more years of support.
how long have you had the 3? the model is 4 years old now, so IF you had it from new and its served you that long I'd be inclined to go the latest model you can get in the hopes of replicating the longevity. With that said the Pixel A is usually just as gooder phone, if not better than the OG. Personally though, I'm apple after the whole "Android letting Facebook steal my wifes fertility data" fiasco.
I think I've had for 2 years? Yeah 2 years, so like I could have it for longer, I'm just worried about software upgrades and security and all that.
Yeah I don't blame you for switching.
Its nice tbh. I didnt realize how many weird little problems I explained away as "Oh thats just Android". It never bothered be when I was on a galaxy. Now i have an iphone its like "man, I used to put up with a lot worse but these days I get annoyed I have to restart the phone once a month"
You could save some cash and get a refurbished 5, 6 or 7? Check out reebelo or phonebot. They get refurbed pixels through quite regularly. I had a 4A up until recently. It was a great phone, I much prefer it over this Motorola.
I'll have a look into that. I'd just be worried about warranty.
If you're fine fiddling around with custom ROMs, then you can squeeze more years out of any existing phone. OnePlus, Samsung and Pixel being the easiest. OnePlus because of support, Samsung because of popularity and Pixel because it's the closest to "pure". Otherwise Motorola or Sony have the least bloatware after Google.
RE: Custom ROMS:
CalyxOS still supports the Pixel 3, with the following Caveats:

GrapheneOS would probably work too! :)
I don't mind Google's bloatware because I use them. But thank you for the information!
I've got a pixel 5 that I like. The 6 has a weird protruding camera area that I don't like the look of.
Yeah it looks kind of weird but I think I'd get used to it eventually.
Edit: sorry about the double post! It didn't send on my end but seems like it did... Weird.
Just moved over to the 7a from the 4a and highly recommend it.
Getting the support is nice, and a good jump in build quality
At least jumping from the 4 to the 6 or 7 is a massive jump. Might thing about it a bit more intensely haha
The good things is I think they've extended the support periods for newer models so you should get more for your buck from a new purchase
That's good to know. I reckon I'll go with the Pixel 7 Pro, my partner likes theirs. I might look at PayPal 1-in-4 pay thing, since there's no interest with it.
