Flashpoint Archive is a community effort to preserve games and animations from the web.

Internet history and culture is important, and the web is evolving at such a rapid pace that what might be commonplace today could be obsolete tomorrow. This project is dedicated to preserving as many experiences from these platforms as possible, so that they aren't lost to time. Since December 2017, over 200,000 games and animations have been preserved across more than a hundred browser plugins and web technologies.

Open source software projects are frequently enmeshed with the interests of corporations. We should update mental models of who works on open source accordingly, and build or modify power structures to be more resilient to corporate capture.

what to do with these (.fla) files?

☕️ exhume the corpse of adobe flash

☕️ make fun of how i code

☕️ whatever the hell you want

Figure it's probably relevant to plug [email protected], a community for otome games—think dating sims aimed at women who want to date men. (For transparency purposes, I mod it.) I have a feeling otome games are not what usually gets posted here, but it is open source and I think open source coming to something niche like otome is a victory.

Hi,

over the last six months I have been building PdfDing. You can find it on github.

PdfDing is a selfhosted PDF manager, viewer and editor offering a seamless user experience on multiple devices. Some of its features include:

  • Remembers current position - continue where you stopped reading on any device
  • Edit PDFs by adding annotations, highlighting and drawings
  • Share PDFs with an external audience via a link or a QR Code. Shared PDFs can be access controlled
  • Dark Mode, colored themes and custom theme colors
  • Inverted color mode for reading PDFs
  • SSO support via OIDC
  • Markdown Notes

The project is built using Django, Alpine JS, htmx, Tailwind CSS and Mozilla's pdf.js.

If you like PdfDing please consider giving the project a star on github. If anyone wants to contribute you are welcome to do so!

Projection mapping is the process of calibrating a digital projection to align with a three dimensional surface. The Shape Mapper library is useful if you have a 3D model of the object you want to projection map

I've mostly seen it used for art installations, but there's likely more to it than I am familiar with

I Stopped Using Matrix - Tatsumoto (tatsumoto.neocities.org)
submitted 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) by Kissaki to c/opensource

What ultimately pushed me to leave Matrix was discovering that my homeserver's admin was using my account without my consent.

In an encrypted room even with fully verified members, a compromised or hostile home server can still take over the room by impersonating an admin. That admin (or even a newly minted user) can then send events or listen on the conversations.

…, I've decided to move my conversations over to SimpleX.

For the past few months, the Matrix community has been largely inactive (despite having over 5,000 members), while the Telegram community has remained much more vibrant. This is disappointing given that I have been a strong advocate for using Matrix and have promoted it widely. For some reason, people are not moving to Matrix at the rate I had hoped.

TODOmd is a pre-commit hook that maintains a TODO.md file in your repo keeping it up to date with all TODOs in your code.

In version 2.0 TODOmd has been completely rewritten in Go. This release introduces a 5x speedup on average and multiplatform availability.
