My biggest concern for the switch over was figuring out what instance I would like best. I think settling on kbin has been a good experience so far, barring some of the hiccups. Luckily, earnest has been crushing it with the fixes the whole time.

Lol, they contributed. ~3.5MB unsorted and undocumented Ruby patch with no attributions. So, the absolute bare minimum of contributing back.

Will it be possible to log in to kbin even though it's a different technology using the same protocol? Or will it require a different kbin specific app?

Has anyone been able to get mlem iOS app to connect to kbin yet? I just get a long timeout and then a generic error message.
