I first got into keyboards because I wanted am ergonomic keyboard but didn't want to pay 200+ for one so I made a redox.
20 for switches 20 for keycaps 10 for 2 off brand Arduinos 20 for the case I asked a friend to print. I already had the tools so thats it.
Now I want a 60% but I'm too lazy to solder so I just ordered a hot swappable one for 30 from AliExpress and will change the switches sometime in the future
I live in a country with mandatory conscription.
If the time served is reasonable and the army is organized enough to actually train you and take advantage of your skills, yes i'm all for it.
If not, it just an excuse for permanent stuff to boss around people and make them do meaningless work to look busy.
