there is no nuance. Bill C-18 want you to pay to link to something. It's a piece of legislation written by an industry that can't figure out how it can work and instead want to be subsidized.
Facebook and Google have the power to stop linking to them. Because that linking IS driving trafic it WILL have an effect.

Municipal network? Look at Toronto. CIty council wanted to create a network to service area where the cartel wouldn't service. The whole thing was vetoed by Rogers Director (member of the board) Mayor John Tory.

imagine taxer un véhicule a la auteur de sa taille et de son prix. Tous les "camion le plus vendu au pays" qui devraient payer $5000 par année. Plus c'est gros plus ca use les route, ca pollue (ca a un cout énorme) et plus c'est dangereux... Et puis si tu a une Lambo, tu peux bien payer.
Le problème c'est qu'ils (les Gouvernements) veulent que le transport collectif soit une entreprise profitable. Mais si on parlait des routes? C'est financé par nos taxes, et le profit ne fait pas partie de l'équation. Et ca coûte encore plus cher à la collectivité.
