From the Biden side, this seems like a bad thing to pick a fight about. It's not like Biden supports actually helping the refugees. So what, he's going to order the national guard to go in and replace the Abbot fences on the border with Federal approved fences on the border?

Why not order the national guard to provide abortion in Texas or something? Then you could have the same sort of fight, but about something where you have moral and popular high ground? Why are the Democrats so bad at this?

Also wondering about this. No one has package Godot 4 with dotnet support for my distribution yet and I'm wondering if that's a sign of the overall state of C# support or just bad luck.

This seems like a plausible guy. He's really into talking about "traditional means of transportation" and "Western urban design".

This is just classic internet "wisdom". He definitely saw it on Reddit or something.

I love the art in that show. Also, it's sort of like a Japanese parody of an American adult animated comedy, and it manages to be better than any of the things it's parodying.

I've been using Wayland for 5 years. There were a few bugs in the beggining, but now it works great. These threads are such a waste of time.

I have over 100 confirms X11 developments

That's great dude. Why don't you go maintain it then, apparently nobody else wants to: https://www.phoronix.com/news/RHEL10-Removing-X.Org

Wayland took too long

Look up how long btrfs has been in development, or at audio subsystem churn. These things take time, because it's mostly volunteers working on them.

Systemic complexity has doubled in the last two years

What does this even mean?

Mir was better

It turns out the Canonical dumping random stuff over the wall is not the same as creating a legitimate open source community around a project.

Unfixable amount of race conditions

As if there's never been a synchronization bug in X... But also System76 and others are writing Wayland compositors on Rust anyway.

I mean xwayland is the best supported X implementation today, and will only get better. You're not ditching everything when you maintain backwards compatibility.

I think that it's a great project, and I hope it succeeds. My sense is that there is more momentum around Nix, so for a lot of uses it just makes more sense.

Guix and Nix both have the same issue imo, which is using a loosely typed language with an odd syntax. I feel like something both strongly typed and with a more common syntax would be easier to edit and faster to evaluate.

I have some respect for someone who consistently has takes that are bad but also highly original. I wonder what Paglia thought about ending of the LOTR movies.

According to the Twitter thread, they literally hired some ex-Pixar animators to create the avatars. The creator claims that this is to avoid the uncanny valley lol

The fact that our planet's resources are being used to create this is disgusting.

But, I was thinking, if you wanted to make one of these that was actually good and compelling the problem is that they have no life outside of you. Like if you're talking to a real person, she might tell you about her day, or share a memory, or tell you about something specific she likes. None of that would happen here, because the thing only gains new context when you interact with it. All of the back stories are very generic.

You need some sort of virtual world where the sexy chatbots interact with each other or have "experiences". Then when you talk to it there will be new things for it to talk about. Which means that maybe your cyber waifu leaves you for another cyber waifu.

It's because they aren't allowed to say "comrades"

I have a cheap electric grinder which doesn't go very fine, and is also loud, and takes up too much space in my little apartment. I would love to have a hand powered grinder that's not too big, but also could grind fine enough to make a decent moka brew. Is this possible? Does anyone have any models to look at?
