Beautiful picture. Were the towns completely abandoned, or were there still a few people living there?

Never read the books as a kid, but thought the TV show was peak comfy.

So true. Those of us that became productive and proficient with PCs while growing up with desktop computers had a hard time taking smartphone/ipad productivity seriously. We got stuck in our own bubble as the phone platforms just got more capable.

Impressive stats all around. The way that reddit and reddit-likes work with feeds/frontpages you don’t need millions and millions of users for a place to feel active and worth visiting. Reddit was an interesting place all the way back in 2010 when I first started going there, and I imagine they had an order of magnitude less users back then in the pre-smartphone app era.

With more users you get more of an eternal september effect… but you also get tons of people that might frictionlessly see and participate in more nische communities.

Definitely considering it. I’ve always gone back and forth between Android and iOS, and most recently went back to android because I like being able to install apps that aren’t on the centralised App/Play Store. But since I’m in the EU and they are forcing some kind of alternative app store and/or side loading on Apple (at least for us in the union) I’m feeling that my main gripe with iOS is finally getting remedied.
