Double check you aren't blocking the magazine https://kbin.social/m/askamericans (if the no entry symbol is lit up red next to subscribe, or you can find the full list under https://kbin.social/settings/blocked/magazines ). I know that may be unlikely but that's the only way I can think of at the moment to show No comments (verified that has said effect of showing no comments while keeping comment count). I know it's not federation turned off and it's not language filter settings as neither had that effect

I added an issue with this to see if anyone with more knowledge on kbin would have an idea https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/issues/868
Domain blocking isn't quite the same as instance blocking. It generally works for text posts or image posts from that instance's users, but things like image posts may not be on the feddit.de
domain. For instance, when I block that domain, I see the latest thread in m/[email protected]
is actually from the domain discuss.tcncs.de
(as shown in ()
next to the title). This is because the domain of an image post is where the image is hosted, as users posting images upload it to their own instance, not the instance the magazine is on. Ernest last said instance blocking should be coming in the future
I feel like there's the slight possibility you can't reply to this thread, because of aforementioned issue. If true, perhaps posting an issue in the repo or joining the matrix might work better for you
Hopefully this reaches someone on Endeavour to get as close as possible, but I haven't had issues on Mint Cinnamon
Any particular pages? Just the main page or threads with lots of comments? Do you have any config options on like infinite scroll?
Edit: Oh I missed you did specify when opening a thread. Is it any at all? Could you link one perhaps?
It's a shorter url for local links, but it's also the actual location of the source of the content.
So for this thread, copy url for me is https://fedia.io/m/[email protected]/t/134107/What-does-Copy-URL-to-Fediverse-do
however, copy url to fediverse is https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/t/240118
The latter is the url that can be used to load the content on other fediverse platforms. For instance, if I take that url and plug it into the search, it will display the thread: https://fedia.io/search?q=https%3A%2F%2Fkbin.social%2Fm%2FkbinMeta%2Ft%2F240118 (edit: this might be a bit iffy. it showed the top thread post before but now it shows a comment inside the thread. I think it's a bit wonky at the moment some times)
I think a shorter answer is: the first url is the location on your instance, the second url is the location of the original content
This is true for profiles, comments, and threads. For instance, I see a lemmy.ca
user commented on this thread. Their comment's url to fediverse is actually https://lemmy.ca/comment/1519825
because they are posting on their instance's copy of this thread, so the source of the post is a different server
Edit: This is a little mastodon specific but goes over the concept, especially the last two sections https://fedi.tips/what-are-original-pages-in-mastodon/
There's a page to see only entries from subscribed magazines: https://kbin.social/sub you can get to it by the hamburger on the top bar
And a page to see the magazines you subscribe to: https://kbin.social/settings/subscriptions/magazines which appears in user settings
Do you mean something else by list of subscribed magazines?
Just to add another concrete example, I saw a toot recently that .af
may be risky, as some countries are beginning to implement embargoes; the person who had a domain there may be losing it soon
I don't believe there is anything after that, it just has the status toggle. "On" will show you things from the greater fediverse (other kbins, lemmy, mastodon). "Off" will show you posts by users from your kbin, as well as replies from the fediverse on those posts that have been copied locally
(Edit: I just double checked and I'm pretty sure instances is just a placeholder for now)
I had a look and did not find an issue about receiving notifications from blocked users. I might've missed it, but feel free to add one https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/issues or I can add one for you
Regarding messaging instance admins, there is a contact link in the footer, but I have no idea what it does or if it works. Perhaps there needs to be an issue to streamline that process as well (interestingly my instance links a mastodon and email contact, kbin. socials is a bit vague with no information)
Just the clarify, you haven't been able to solve it yet, correct? Just as a recap, I was able to get the pictured thread to show no comments by:
m/askamericans
ord/lemmy.world
ord/kbin.social
I was not able to get comments to change on the thread by
I wonder what else I could be missing. I do see you have plugins but I can't imagine it's that, if it resolves when you log out, it must be a user setting somehow. I would consider making note of all the blocked domains / magazines you do have, maybe lift them for a second and reload the thread, and see if that fixes it. Perhaps there's a domain I'm not imagining would cause this.
