Recently I noticed with another user that they had blocked a domain and it, for some reason, was hiding all comments in the thread despite the blocked domain being completely unrelated to the post (the post wasn't on that domain, wasn't by someone on that domain, and no commenters were from that domain).

If posts are disappearing when you're logged in but not when logged out, it should be something like that: either a language filter, federation turned off, or a blocked community you might not expect filtering it out. You can double check by unblocking domains/magazines to see if any of them return comments, though that might be troublesome with many blocked.

relevant issue in kbin's issue tracker https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/issues/649

Edit: It is a bit strange that post specifically was in a code block, but it appears to be on lemmy's side as well. I'm trying to think, there are a few renderer issues with 0.18.3 so maybe something happened there if the OP did not intend to put it in one

/sub/microblog shows you unsubscribed magazines? I don't experience that, so just want to make sure. It's kind of difficult to get to, I realize now, as if you click on microblog and then click on the "subscribed" menu item it actually takes you back to threads (/sub) instead. The only way I've found to get to the page (besides via url) is first go to subscribed threads and then click microblog in the header.

This question has plagued my mind for decades, because the main character of the tv show Eureka, Jack Carter, always answered his radio/phone with this. And to this day I have no idea what words he was saying or why he always said it. I had started to think he was saying "gofer" which is

An employee who runs errands in addition to performing regular duties.

But that seemed a bit weird for the sheriff to say

Magazine subscriptions can be found in your settings under https://kbin.social/settings/subscriptions/magazines
They also appear on your profile https://kbin.social/u/curt/subscriptions (only for you if you have not selected to make it public in settings)

They did reply in this thread, though to another commenter so maybe the notification might not have gone to you, not sure how they work for threads you post.

But so you don't have to go search for it, they said:

Agree and I will work on it (I’m the mod btw)

This is anecdotal, but I don't experience these log outs on fedia (I have to relog like once every few days but that doesn't bother me, I assumed it was cookie expiry but maybe it has to do with server restarts or something). So I can understand if it happens more often to kbin social users it might be some other way it's set up like caching or something that others might not be running. Then again, without version info, it makes it a bit tough to debug so this might not be helpful, fedia could be running some random sha atm which might be the reason.

You might've already seen this, but just in case other people missed it since not everyone may follow ernest or check the microblog tab, he listed his current priorities here https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/p/1002621/Hi-in-this-and-probably-the-next-week-I-will so hopefully people won't have to deal with this too much longer 🤞

Whhhhhaaaaaaattttt that's so weird. I can confirm it's the same for me. If I block /d/lemmynsfw.com all of the comments in that thread disappear despite it being completely unrelated, the OP isn't from that domain, the magazine obviously isn't, and no commenters are. I'll have to see if there's a similar issue in their code repo yet or not or if there's a reason this is happening

Oh; darn, now I need to know where they get their stats from.

Well I'll just say my dumb idea. It might not be this, but I observed that fedidb would double count instances for kbin. It was doing this for a while with fedia.io where it also listed www.fedia.io under it with the exact same MAU / user count. Not a big problem, but as I was checking in each day I noticed it suddenly added kbin.social under another subdomain as well, doubling all of its counts. Then, eventually, both dupes were removed. So my idea was maybe this was during that time when suddenly the largest instance was being double counted. Maybe not, just wanted to mention that I had seen that happen

Edit: I guess they get users themselves, so unless they had the same glitch, it was likely unrelated, my bad

Is there a source for the numbers in the image? Is it up to date or were they snapshots from something each day?
