As Linus (and other YouTubers for that matter) have said, awful thumbnails and clickbaity titles work.

And when YouTube is a side gig you can refuse to do it on principle, but when you need to pay 100 folks (in case of LMG) - I don't think it's much of a choice.

to rot in jail for the rest of their existence

Because later on, if they were found to be actually innocent - the person rotting in jail can be released and compensated (to whatever extent false imprisonment can be compensated).

If they were executed, it's over. The injustice can't be remediated in any way.

If they plan to continue smoking or heavily drinking, then yes we should skip over to the next person on the list.

If they refuse to take up the lifestyle changes or follow medical advice, the organ should be used for the next person on the list.

People who've got transplants need to take immunosuppressants to reduce risk of rejection. Making them much more vulnerable to COVID. If the person is adamantly refusing the vaccine for bogus conspiracy theory reasons - it doesn't give me much confidence that they would even follow through on other medical advice to prevent rejection.

If I recall correctly, in that recording of the meeting that was on reddit (the one after Madison left) already mentioned third party HR.

I found out about Lemmy BECAUSE of Sync

I had heard of lemmy in the days before the reddit blackout, but only when ljdawson said he was considering building sync for lemmy, did I actually join up.

I tried other clients before sync was actually out, and voyager is pretty good - but sync feels like home.

Reddit had considerably more users when Sync was created- so smaller amount per person over larger user base would pay for the bill.

With Lemmy, user base isn’t there yet to create that same economies of scale - so to pay for the dev’s time - each person would need to pay a larger amount.

It's good to be home.
