And it really throws a wrench in my plans for the Qu---wait what's this? I found out time beat me to it last year!

how do you mean?

Along the lines of @[email protected]'s contribution, Arab immigration to the US increased by orders of magnitude during the 60s and 70s, principally to add a super-exploitable labor force for auto manufacturing who would initially have a language barrier to organizing. This is when a large number of non-white passing Arab people came to the US. Although as was said, the official category had already been established decades earlier, principally by Christian Arabs from Syria

I also think Christendom was the decisive element in this case since in the same year the Supreme Court 1) denied 'white' status to a Japanese man who argued his skin was paler than most 'white' people's because he was not of Caucasian descent and 2) denied 'white' status to an Indian man who argued on those grounds he ought to be considered white because Northern Indians are of caucasian descent because his skin was too dark.

The excitement around this feels how I imagine the OG modular synths built. Its a lot of people who are good at playing on the surface of the thing, and few truly gifted systems designers.

Thank you for including an image ID! It is also good practice to include the post-text in case too.

All of my posts are an emergent response to the spontaneous urge to post.

I love that song too but I can see the Bjork from a mile away. :p

It's present on Munekita by Kali Uchis and really heavily on Bizcochito by Rosalia. Mostly in hyper-pop *& reggaeton adjacent tracks. Like specifically the little squeeky sound. I love it so much. IDK if its genre-dependent but I've only heard it on this type of anglo-crossover Latin pop—although Rosalia is a white spaniard who appropriates latin american sounds.

@[email protected] @[email protected] I clipped the two songs and put them in the vocaroo this post links to now!

Headed into kind of a 90s IDM/liquid DnB direction with some of the tracks. Still her ethereal voice, drama, high-femme glam. The production on this album is so rich.

And I like mezcal, I like compari (that's why I could even make it!) but this is just one of the most fetid unpleasant drinks I have ever made. The bite of the mezcal is too cut by the compari, and the herbal notes lose their top notes and just leave you with the dry feeling on the back of your tongue. All the goodness is lost. No joy remains.

Give this to your curious teen and they will gladly stay sober until the day they move out. Jesus.

I don't always smoke weed, but when I do...

Uhhh, let me be near.

Does anyone have a good guideline for computing requirements? I'm not planning to stream like with PleX or anything, I just want something I can stick on the back of my projector and forget about except for when I want to watch something or download something.

Requirements

  • Small form factor
  • Low power draw
  • Enough SSD space for ~6 movies
  • Storage expandable by external flash device
  • Wi-Fi (my modem can't be moved closer)
  • Bluetooth AND 3.5 mm for audio out

Something like the Nvidia Shield would be perfect but its too hard to download things onto it directly. Ideally, I wouldn't have to have a personal computer other than this device. Currently, I plug my laptop in and stream, but my streaming sites no longer work well and it does not have the storage for me to download movies.

Since I am not trying to use this as a home server to stream off of, I shouldn't need a lot of computing power for transcoding or parallel sessions or nothing like that.

AS mentioned in the title, my budget is around $150 (not including external storage). Any more than that, and it's not worth upgrading from my laptop.

Literally online wh*tes are allergic to flavor or joy. Pusilanimous cowards. I put about 1/3 cup of rosemary, thyme, and lemon zest finely chopped and the resulting cookie has just barely observable flecks of herbs. Also the goofies who wrote this thing wanted it cooked at below the carmelization point the whole time tf.

I can't really watch anything that doesn't have a clear arc or start/stop point. Shows are just too long for me. Last thing I liked was Over the Garden Wall which is just a sliced up movie. Love movies though so its not an attention span thing.

People ask me what I do and I cook a lot and draw and read books and kiss my boyfriend. IDK when I would even watch shows lol.

But I tell people this and they can't understand or get really weird interrogating me how I spend my free time. The happy version of this is some of my coworkers found out I really like dancing and now they ask me 'are you going dancing this weekend?' on Thursday or Friday.

I've found a few .pdfs but nothing I can read on my e-reader.
