I hate winter, but not because of the climate (we get a couple of days if snow at best), but because it's just constantly dark. It's incredibly depressing. It's already getting dark by 16:30 now.

"where one man.... And one goat..."

People will be toxic no matter what. I don't think making prospective new users feel unwelcome is a good idea when we'd like to see some growth.

It's a noble goal don't get me wrong, but cars are just way too convenient to get rid of for most that don't live in the central zones of cities. Just things like taking your kid to their swimming lessons, evening activities, going to the tip and garden centre and dropping off at your parents en route, visiting friends that are several villages away, kids birthday party and then going to the supermarket after to pick up some food etc.

Something I've noticed is that people on Lemmy never seem to advocate for busses, it's always trains.

As much as people on Lemmy love trains, they're not replacing cars no matter how good the infrastructure is.

That's good to know! I had it do my first interval workout today which was nice.

Yeah I recently read about the 80% thing too. It's difficult not to just go a bit faster just because you know you can! Although I do like that the watch "tells you off" for going too fast when using the workout which is nice.

When you say overtraining, how much were you doing? I see some people running every day and I have no idea how they're doing it, I try to stick to 3 runs a week, 4 at most, with a day off in between.

Just seen the context in the post description, hadn't spotted that at first.

What's the context here?

Edit: am smooth brained idiot - context is on the post description

Interestingly the opposite reason is why I've ignored them until now - it would suggest runs at a pace that were below what I'd normally run at so, and I just didn't want to run that "slow". However, I think they may be for my benefit to perhaps slow down a bit and also follow the interval training. So I dunno if I'm just wasting my time with it or what!

I've had my watch about 6 weeks now and I've just started to try to recommend workouts to see if they make any difference.

Just wondering if people use the suggested workouts or whether they're just a bit rubbish? How do I know if the suggestions are accurate for what I need?

Ahh yeah I see it now. You yourself could qualify for this list.

"Trying to set communities alight" could work

I thought they were already in the process of building the infrastructure at Euston for HS2?

For me it would be where the sun is shining, the house is tidy and there's no chores to do.

Start off with a decent breakfast and a decent mug of coffee. I'd have had my run the previous day so can rest a bit. Maybe head out for a walk, grab some lunch at the local garden centre. I've just redownloaded the game Ingress after not playing it for years, so maybe play that for a couple of hours.

Get home and watch the F1 while I prepare and cook a lasagne in the afternoon. Smash said lasagne with a glass or two of a nice red wine and then spend the evening playing Minecraft for a few hours, then an hour or two of reading before bed.

The reality though is far different as I have two young kids!

He'd caught two thieves trying to steal his quad bike, so he tied them up and brought them to the police station.

The farmer was then arrested for suspicion of false imprisonment.

Apologies for the crappy local news site.

But do the categories (Animal, Vegetable, Mineral) just make no sense against the possibile answers?

The instructions for the game are at the top. A player picks a word from a card and the other player has to guess the word they've picked, starting by asking if it's an animal, vegetable or mineral.

At a table? Desk? Living room in front of the TV?
