This was unexpected. I'm a vegan Arch Linux user, never heard of any association to be honest.
Dehumanising people makes it easy to hate and persecute them, and to blame them for a bunch of stuff which isn't their fault. It really is a classic move with a rich history.

I liked it until about half way through, it seemed to lose all the intrigue and then there was the weird bit about rape (if I remember correctly) at which point I gave up. Shame because it started well.
Just finished Embassytown by China Mieville. Haven't read anything for ages so took the opportunity to get back into it on a lazy holiday. Highly recommend this book, or any by China, if you enjoy dense sci-fi.

Maybe do some research about statistical concepts before spouting what sounds good to you. Causation can absolutely 'come' without correlation.
