I also wonder how many instances are just hosted on some old desktop sitting in a tangle of wires in the basement.

There needs to be durable instance backup/migration tools available to moderators of these communities.

I imagine that'll eventually get done with the limited dev time Lemmy is working with here, but it's still worth considering for a new community.

It's clunky and kinda empty right now, but hopefully it'll get better.

Definitely needs a bunch of content that isn't "Reddit sucks."

I can still see Moscow street cams.

But I'm guessing internet is going down anywhere near PMC positions, since I haven't seen any new wagner footage in a while.

When your feed stops being broke I'd guess.

You completely missed and supported my point at the same time.

I was debating...

Kichae: Not to mention believing there's anything "left wing" about Reddit.

...and nothing else.

Myself: I wouldn't be surprised if I get attacked here just for using that as an example

Thank you for insulting me for being uniformed, while entirely missing the point of discussion. We all know that insulting people's intelligence is the best way to spread awareness.

Not to mention believing there's anything "left wing" about Reddit.

This is like the "No true Scotsman" fallacy.

Try posting any less-than left wing ideas on any big Reddit sub and see how many upvotes you get. I'm not talking about alt-right nonsense, just stuff like "maybe public school women's teams should be separate from teams with trans women athletes on them."

Actual discussion about anything political is impossible on Reddit anywhere but small communities, because the site is such an echo-chamber.

I wouldn't be surprised if I get attacked here just for using that as an example, because it's such a clusterfuck of a topic.

If it was just him and his buddies getting on this sub and doing dangerous voyages then I see no problem.

But to ignore industry experts and invite paying clients onto your ultra-dangerous submarine, well that's not a good look.

The simple fact that there was no possible egress without outside assistance should have been reason enough to scrap the design. With constant safety issues on what seems like every single one of their dives, I'm actually amazed that the Titan didn't kill someone sooner.

Probably not.

But most wireless headphones would be destroyed in the process of taking them apart.

I imagine some of the larger models above have (skilled) user replaceable batteries.

The landing page at join-lemmy.org should lead straight into active content, and then let users choose an instance once they're ready.

I am particularly motivated to ditch Reddit and yet the first time I saw that page I figured I was going to need to configure a bunch of shit to get started.

So that's one major issue that needs to be addressed. I'm sure it will be in time.

What software did you use to create the covers?

I've been printing a ton lately, but I haven't gotten into inlaying different colors or custom text.

I can research it myself, but it would be helpful to have a software recommendation to get started.

I'm in the process of deleting all my comments but it's taking a while.

I've got probably 100k karma over a few accounts.

I feel kinda bad about taking away all the technical help and collaborative type stuff I've done over the years, but... Reddit wants to use all that data to cash out on it's users, so it has to go.
