But... that says it is a criminal offense. Sure it was late to banning it, but is it still a problem today?

I think it would be IdleAction and IdleActionSec in /etc/systemd/logind.conf

Anki is a free and open source spaced-repetition flashcard program. You can find many premade decks for it for pretty much any language, and you can create your own cards from real-world content you read ("sentence mining"). You can also find free (or pirated) grammar guides and similar content online. These two resources will give you the foundation for making your input comprehensible, but the vast majority of the learning you'll do will come from simply reading and listening to native content while making as much of an effort to understand it as possible (such as by looking up words in the dictionary using a browser extension like yomichan)

See this really good guide for learning Japanese (some of the information applies to other languages too): https://learnjapanese.moe

Knowing reddit, I'm willing to guess they weren't even talking about actual CSAM either, but instead whining that a certain instance allows lewd drawings of certain fictional characters that are "totally equivalent to real kids being abused!!1!" according to them

I think what they meant by contrarians is people who disagree for the sake of disagreeing without any actual argument , usually in order to stir up drama or engage in a circlejerk

As long as the audio frequency is less than half the sample rate, it is a mathematical function with only one (exact) wave that is able to fit all 4 points, so it is perfectly reconstructed. This video provides a great visualization of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIQ9IXSUzuM

Just use the nicotine-plus client for soulseek instead. It's much more stable, and it's foss

At both algorithms' highest levels, xz seems to be on average a few percent better at compression ratio, but zstd is a bit faster at compression and much much faster at decompression. So if your goal is to compress as much as possible without regard to speed at all, xz -9 is better, but if you want compression that is almost as good but faster, zstd --long -19 is the way to go

At the lower compression presets, zstd is both faster and compresses better

It means it can capture any frequency up to half the sample rate, perfectly. The "extra detail" in the waveform is higher frequencies beyond the range of human hearing
