When installing gnome using apt it should prompt you at some point which display manager (aka login screen) you want to use. Just choose the one that's not gdm and your login screen wont change. Generally its easy to install a new desktop. Just do "sudo apt install the_desktop_environment" and change the chosen desktop environment on your login screen when logging in (there should be some slider or button for that).

Comme vous le savez le dernier Frankenstein de meta compte bientôt fédérer avec le Fediverse, jlai.lu inclus. There seems to be a wave of accounts from this instance spamming/brigading comments everywhere. I know one of them @[email protected] has been spamming already. But now there is another spamming pictures of checks notes nikocado avocado's anus everywhere. [email protected] (check profile and comment history at your own risk). Somebody seems to be raiding this instance and many others through different accounts so i just wanted to warn you all.
