The bot that ran the sub was set up to only increase the membership if new adds were active enough to not get kicked. We floated around 125ish in line with Dumbars number.

/r/edefinition small sub with 100ish people that get randomly added and stay until inactive. Internets very different once you recognize names and talk to the same strangers.

This is the natural cycle. Big sites get greedy and kill off the user base for a payout and we go to the next one. The fact reddit kept alive for so long is surprising but it take a lot for people to bother moving.
