Pretty sure discussion of sex and sexuality is fine here and this is just a person who was poisoned by reddit's pervasive porn & weird internet culture around that.

I went to several cities in the the Henan province (primarily Zhengzhou) in 2019 & no I don't speak Chinese.

I don't mention it much because of that, but when I went to China there were a bunch of people living in caves who were walking down (~0.5miles) to a river to get water. There is still a gap between policy and achievements, it's just not useful mentioning it in most places. But I wonder sometimes how much of the attitude about China being utopian is a bit and how much is true belief.

In general I have developed a huge amount of uncertainty in regards to foreign affairs/conditions because you both can't really trust that news isn't carrying foreign policy and devoid of a lot of deep cultural & historic context I am not sure you can develop reasonable interpretations even if the news is true.

somehow my mind completely skipped the "civilians" part and I was like, "well yeah political violence is pretty much necessary for change why is that a bad take?"

I follow up compulsively when there is ambiguity, it was just a general observation from past experience.

I've always assumed that meant you incremented the month (i.e next month on this date) but it turns out some people use an arbitrary day increase and you only find out when it fails.

It absolves them of any responsibility to seek change or take action of any kind because everything is unknowable

It is entirely possible that in their minds the statement

Forty-one percent of Biden supporters say they believe people who support the Republican party and its ideologies have become “so extreme in what they want that it is acceptable to use violence to stop them from achieving their goals.”

means that it's ok to stop the people who shoot up schools and synagogues etc

edit: as opposed to just bombing the Republic National Convention or swearing in ceremonies or whatever violence means to them here

I think this is more about how our urban planning refuses to meaningfully address that a car only approach is clearly not workable and only builds more lanes / implements express toll lanes and fee or tax based punitive systems but won't run enough busses or make metro lanes so that they function safely & well etc.
