The other day I was trying to explain this "made with 100% whatever" concept to a coworker.

A HFCS fruit drink might say "made with 100% real juice", but that real juice could be like 2% of the total recipe when the rest is HFCS, dyes and flavorings. It's one of those technically true things and it's enough to skirt FDA labeling requirements, and a lot of people are dumb enough to be taken in by it and believe they're drinking a real product.

As someone with German, French and Russian ancestry, I thought I was mayo af but apparently I'm swarthy according to Ben Franklin.

Add to your list:

  • US farms get billions of dollars in government subsidies per year.
  • farms destroy their crops during times of surplus to keep market prices up.

But poor farmers are going to starve if we let children eat for free.

A lot of deranged people see that as virtuous.

Yeah, I watched some videos of people demonstrating/testing/reviewing Photoshop "AI" tools. Many of them really were the same tools Photoshop has had for years already, just rebranded as AI. Such a blatant cash grab.

My family's dial up service was capped at 500 megabytes a month and then it became like an extra 10 cents per megabyte after the cap. I remember breaking that limit all the time and my parents would have me pay the overage. At some point like fuckit and started paying for the who thing myself to avoid the hassle.

Pretty much this. When Trump is in the WH again, his supporters will be clapping like seals when he hands the first blank checks to Israel, Ukraine etc., while the libs will be the ones calling for this spending to stop.

Yeah, didn't the "le epic bacon" thing happen in response to a huge slump in bacon sales? I could have sworn reading somewhere that the whole thing was basically an astroturfed social media marketing campaign by the pork industry. Or maybe I'm just being conspiratorial.

Same. Which doesn't make sense because a majority of this city is mostly flat urban landscape, narrow streets that were mainly laid out in the 1910s when horses and streetcars were still the primary modes of travel, and the only "offroad" area suitable for these vehicles is a metropark that is in the jurisdiction of county rangers anyway.

My (backed up 😉😉😉) collection of movies and tv shows is made up of like 8 different file formats. I prefer to play them all with VLC, but every few months Windows likes to forget that and they'll randomly open with Windows Media Player, and i have to go through this bullshit.

It's especially annoying because VLC doesn't appear in the list, so I have to manually select the program in File Explorer. For every video format.

There are so many people who think Brooklyn is some tiny enclave and not practically a large city of its own.

If New York had its boroughs separated into their own cities, at 2.5 million people Brooklyn would become the third largest city in the US after Los Angeles and Chicago.
