The US isn't doing so hot by just making the fascists "a laughing stock". More severe consequences are needed. However, there's MUCH more misinformation they need to target than just this.
Alberta is speedrunning late stage capitalism decay. Preventative healthcare doesn't feel realistic anymore. Family doctors are leaving. Queer people under attack in exactly the same way we see in the US.

Politics doesn't happen in a vacuum. Everybody not with them, including Jagmeet Singh, recognize that the Conservative party will be a disaster for Canada. It will put the lives of real people at risk. That's why ideological moves like what you're describing hasn't happened. Politics affects real people in the real world.
