TikTok and Instagram are very picky about language and will algorithmically suppress you if you use words they deem to be "brand-risky." As a response we now have people on social media training themselves to cover up letters in perfectly normal words, say "unalive" instead of "die/kill," etc.

It's not too uncommon for journals to include op-eds critical of the journal itself. Usually the author is responding to a previously published article (hence the "op"), but they can also criticize the journal's practices or call for broader change in the industry.
