Based on the comments, this isn't nearly cruel enough for the chuds. Looks like another masterful triangulation on a plan that absolutely everyone except the liberalism core demographic hates.

Part of the issue might also be that they just used a cheap one size fits all mask instead of something that took a modicum of fucking effort. Nitrogen asphyxiation is used in parts of Europe for medically assisted suicide, so it can be done humanely, but the procedure requires more than just slapping something you ordered on Amazon on a guy's face and calling it good. Of course, the people undergoing it in Europe have also chosen to die, and aren't struggling to hang on for ten more seconds. Fuck this place.

I think the possibility that it might actually be pleasurable--even if only for a few seconds--also puts us off of it. Two of the stated purposes of the death penalty in the United States are deterrence and punishment. A method that has the potential to feel good for the condemned wouldn't satisfy the bloodthirsty hogs enough. There are a lot of people who would bring back drawing and quartering, if given the option.

Look, we know it's not perfect, but at least the Democrats want to provide a sanitary grinder for children.

Yeah, I know that, it's just sort of breathtaking to see it in real time on an issue like this--like some sort of big natural catastrophe. A hurricane of fucking sucking.

Children are the best candidates for cleaning the child grinders. Their hands are small enough to really get in there between the teeth, and it gives them valuable work experience.

He'd been doing and saying unhinged shit before that, but he was one of the few people to correctly call Trump's win waaaaaay in advance, which he took to be evidence of his genius insight instead of just a lucky call. It got him a lot of attention, though, and he's continued to ramp up the unhinged shit from there. He's the "Trump is a master persuader who is so charismatic it is basically magic" guy.

If you join now, you can make brigadier general by March.

We need to let the voters decide whether to enforce sedition laws. Make sure to vote Biden to force him to do something.

A longish, but fascinating, look at the computational constraints surrounding Soviet-style central planning, and some thoughts about how such planning might work with the assistance of modern computing power. You might know Cosma Shalizi from his excellent essay "Cognitive Democracy," which argues that coalitions of people who are more diverse (in all senses) tend to make better decisions.

I'm teaching a course on radical politics this semester, and today we're going to be discussing "Socialism: Utopian and Scientific." I am the specter haunting public education. hexbear-specter

I'll update later on with how well it's received.

Update: it went well! They were critical--they're critical of everything, which is part of the fun of the job--but also very sympathetic to the critique. They had a lot of excellent examples of, in particular, digital technology playing out the problems in capitalism that Engels identified.
