I have never understood why this was the go to punishment for students that didn't want to be at school.

"Don't want to be at school? Well then, fine! You're not allowed at school. Ha, that sure showed that rambunctious rascal!"

"Uhh..." plays Zelda or whatever

I had a similar epiphany, though it also coincided with my second divorce, so who's to say where it really came from?

My inner thought wasn't "Who cares?" though, it was "Why wrestle in the mud with a pig? All you'll get is a broken arm, covered in mud, blood, sweat, and who knows what the fuck else. To top it all off, the pig enjoyed the hell out of it."

You can see why this epiphany may have coalesced at or around the same time my divorce finalized. Still though, I think Reddit had a hoof in this too.

Nothing so extreme as that. You will literally bake to death before you melt, so don't worry about that! Cheers.

I've been outside working in -34° C, and likewise 54.4° C. That's -30° F and 130° F for those of us who use imperial.

The negative temp was Alaska, and the high positive was the Arabian Gulf. Good times.

Oh thank god I'm no longer alone! Not that I probably was, I imagine tons of people do this, but I was the only one in my family that did. Whoo! There are at least two of us now!

At my work we usually debate ad nauseam until one, both, or all of us suddenly remember that we have all the wealth of mankind's knowledge at our finger tips and then we Google.

...then we inevitably complain about the lack of internet in our office, agree to disagree and then forget what we were discussing as we move onto another debatable topic.
