Nice night scene! I appreciate the detail you put into the suv and its lighting, really makes me feel like they're the only one around for a long while.

Leap day people have to wait four, the poor souls.

Lmao how unfortunate, and thank you very much!

The day's not over until you say goodnight to your plushies! God I love plushies.

Thanks for sharing! From the sounds of it you've been aware for a long time too, honestly it's kinda amazing to me how long it's been a part of many people's lives and identities. It really is one of those things that seem to stick with you forever!

Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words!

Handmade‽ Wow, they are so cute! Are you the creator? If so, you did a lovely job bringing them to life!

Thank you very much!

Glad my translation of the window was on point then! This was made in Krita, a FOSS art program. I actually made it under a size and color constriction to be recreated as a Mario Maker 2 comment, which I ended up doing a week later.

Tails is basically the reason I found out I wanted to be a fox when I was like 7, so he's had an influence on my identity for sure. Without the full body and no color to go on, he does look a lot like him.

Yeah, pure art posts are against the rules, but it's often pretty easy to turn something into a joke related to the art you've made. Also it could just be emotionally relatable, which is also allowed.

Yeah I feel you on that, at least in the sense of knowing people enjoy what you create anyway. It doesn't have to do anything crazy, but knowing people want to see it from time to time is certainly a nice feeling. Art is a form of personal expression after all, and I want to share that with others freely. That is also what I look out for in others too, people who want to share their ideas and create purely because they want to. A labor of love and nothing more.

I noticed a quite lovely funnel web yesterday morning! The maker was hiding of course, so I figured I'd lightly tap the web's edge with a piece of straw. That absolutely did the trick, and I was impressed with this little spider's speed with checking out the tiny disturbance! They explored the web for a couple minutes, and I tried to take some pictures to show off both the web and it's owner. I liked this one the most, so I'm sharing it with you all!

Saw this little one when I was out at a store, looks like goldenrod soldier beetle! Their coloration really stood out amongst the gray carts, so I was quickly drawn to them, and tried taking some close-up images!

I took this a little while back with a macro lens I had on my old phone. I was amazed at just how close I got, there are lots of very visible features here that I'd entirely overlook seeing a grasshopper minding themselves out in the world. I'm appreciative they stood still long enough to take the picture, as you might imagine even some tiny movement would've made this a blurry mess.

When you get your duck friend, you're supposed to whisper a cool name into their ear, and they'll be yours forever. I went with the name Foucault, after the creator of the Foucault Pendulum (Léon Foucault). A simple and elegant way to not only showcase the Earth's rotation, but also your approximate latitudinal location too (because the time it takes to complete a full rotation is influenced by your distance from the poles).

Anyway, science stuff aside my duck friend is incredibly soft, and has little beans in the bottom half so they can sit upright without having to balance them! I love giving them hugs and seeing them every day when I get back from work. Being that they are a tall and thin duck, I find them pretty difficult to photograph. Hopefully this side shot of them laying in bed is enough to showcase their cuteness!

A spider I happened to notice a while back while out and about. Its markings and size caught my eye, as it was very different from the spiders I typically see around here. I doubt they are rare, but it was new to me and I wanted to get a close up picture. It might not look particularly close, but it's a phone camera with no optical zoom. I was only a couple of inches from the subject and didn't want to disturb them.

She's gone fishin', and here's the big catch of the day! Sure she could just jump in and grab one, but kicking back with the ol' line is much more relaxing.

Went with lined subject and line-less background elements. I've seen it before in media and am considering doing it more in the future, kinda draws more attention to the character(s).

I'm still on the fence now!

In the fridge today to cool off a bit, here are my two plushie friends! Why two? Well let me tell you the story of how I got each:

I was shown this web series by the same name a while back by a friend and quite liked it, so when I eventually found out they made plushies of Chikn, I wanted one quite badly. Unfortunately, by the time I found out, they were already gone. I ended up waiting a few months, but after just figuring they were never coming back, I went to various websites and found a whole mountain of bootlegs. I figured what the heck, he looks a little silly but I will love him all the same!

Quite a few months passed after I got the first one and I ended up hearing that the original plushies were coming back too. So what did I do? I got another plushie of course as soon as I could! Now that I have both friends I kinda have the best of both worlds. The official plushie is one of the ones I handle sparingly and give little hugs, while the bootleg is one of my sleeping buddies!

Mono-spaced type has been all but removed from places on the internet, so it's no surprise larger scale ASCII art isn't common anymore. But have any of you made such stuff way back when, or perhaps more recently for nostalgic fun?

I made this at the end of 2022 when I realized Notepad++ was mono-spaced by default, and wanted to try creating my sona. Text is an interesting medium to work with, it reminds me of pixel art in a way due to the constraints. That and for the first time in my life I found a use for the insert key, absolutely amazing.

He was always drawing everyone!

The story behind this little guy is that a few friends and I went to a Toys-R-Us over 5 years ago, which was about to close down because of the bankruptcy. I found him on a fairly empty shelf staring me down with this amazing face, and knew immediately I wanted to bring them back home! Now I see Litten alongside their many other plushie pals every day, I'm glad I found them.

Mmm...big borgar 🍔
