From https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/dec/13/us-scientists-confirm-major-breakthrough-in-nuclear-fusion (linked in the original article):

Immense hurdles remain, however, in the quest for fusion power plants. While the pellet released more energy than the lasers put in, the calculation does not include the 300 or so megajoules needed to power up the lasers in the first place. The NIF lasers fire about once a day, but a power plant would need to heat targets 10 times per second. Then there is the cost of the targets. The ones used in the US experiment cost tens of thousands of dollars, but for a viable power plant, they would need to cost pence. Another issue is how to get the energy out as heat.

Still, these stepping stones are encouraging progress.

Wow. Seems incredibly convoluted. What does “Formula 1 can veto the new teams, but it cannot block them” mean? This is the first time I’ve heard of the Concorde Agreement, too. Seems wild to me that a new entrant wouldn’t be eligible for prize money unless Liberty says ok. Between the 3 heads of FIA, F1, and Liberty (plus teams trying to throw their weight around), it’s a wonder anything changes.

I genuinely don’t understand this parallel, but I would like to. It feels like I’m missing something. Email has to go to a specified recipient every time. A post is avail to everyone in the community + federated instances.

Hades is my vote. Short runs mean you can take breaks/naps/whatever. Great story telling if you get hooked and want to play for hours.

Came down to a final lap shootout, and Checo just didn’t deliver. No fault but his own.

Alonso barely scraped into Q2!

Max said it was… lol

Ok, joining the Williams hype train. But also, what happened to Mercedes??

Russel only got ahead of max on average pace because he ran slicks. Max was sooo much faster than the rest of the field on equal rubber.

This is great! Looks like the start of lap 18 was the break even point to pit for slicks.

Your prediction came true - made for some pretty great racing at the end!
