I would love to find a camping and backpacking community. Also a replacement for /r/ultralightjerk would be awesome.

I hadn't used anything except my account logged in through RiF for 13 years. When I checked the front page as a guest I realized finally just how bad reddit is. All the posts were hot garbage surrounded by ads. I honestly don't know how people use reddit now.
As many others have said already, I loved signal until they ended sms support. I'm not going to have two separate messaging apps. Especially when 90% of people I know won't use signal and don't care about encryption. I just use the Google messaging app, which in my opinion is way better than Samsung's app. I enjoy rcs support and as I understand it, there is still e2e encryption.
That being said, if I'm doing anything illegal I'm going to force the people to use signal or something safer. As much as I love Google, I'm not going to trust them to keep me out of jail. Nudes would probably be the most sensitive thing I'd trust Google with.
Oh and I dont mind the Facebook messenger app if you use the secure mode. Hate Facebook though, just the messenger is ok.
Agreed, all it is now is a marketing stunt. Usually with responses built by some lawyer or publicist. But anyway, 1 horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?
I haven't looked at Mastodon at all yet so I don't really know how it works, but from what I have gathered, it is not dissimilar from lemmy but for microblogs. I suppose the main similarity is its distributed network which I agree is a better solution than a centralized server. Hopefully that statement ages well.
Heck i couldn't easily check if diablo 4 servers were wonky because I can't check the blizzard Twitter. Obviously this is less important than an amber alert. As another reply said, I think police need a better way to disseminate emergency information and that is on them. However something like server status is a perfect use of Twitter that is now close enough to impossible to do. If public agencies are going to continue using Twitter for these purposes, then something needs to change. Personally I'd be ok with the government having a little more say in things if we are going to continue viewing Twitter as a public service.
Strong /r/ultralightjerk vibes. I approve.
I suppose this is a good place for my first post. I'm happy to be here. This has saved me from the withdrawals of losing reddit. I hope we can make this an active community.
Does one cat only have two feet or do two cats have three?
Or does one human have 4?
