My cat is either on me, touching me, or sitting near me. If I make a any sound she makes one back and gets up to demand scritches and head smooches.

Sometimes my cat friends pspsps to get my dog's attention. It doesn't work and I can see their souls crush a little.

"No, no. Like this.... Oi! Dickhead!"

dog comes panting over all stoked to get pats

My cat cares not for PSPSPS, but if you yell "what the fuck are you doing?" he'll run over like you were waving a fresh salmon at him.

Also a winner is "get the fuck out of here, cat" never fails to encourage the cat to stay

Hot tip for farm cat owners, putting masking tape on the back of a cat will not harm it but will prevent it from jumping up temporarily. This should be long enough to put the valve cover back on an engine without trapping the cat inside.

Hadn't thought of masking tape. A squirt of compressed air also works to get them to vacate the area temporarily.

Mo thinks he's a mechanic

Edit: In case it's not obvious, DO NOT shoot compressed air directly at your cat! Just let it make the PSHHHHH noise.

my cat only answers to a whistle that is a rising tone from about 1800hz to about 2300hz. that works every time and there is no other way to call my cat.

You may appreciate a song by The Weakerthans called Virtute the Cat Explains Her Departure. It's part of a saga of sorts they released over time, sung from the perspective of the songwriter's pet cat named Virtute. They're arguably depressing—and also arguably positive—but this one specifically is about Virtute not ever knowing her name or anything, just "the sound you found for me" which was her connection to the songwriter.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'm the better for it.

imagine my delight when I started to notice every time I whistled a song, my cat would appear. And then I did it on purpose to test my theory, and indeed my cat who loves being alone & hiding, would come to me every time I whistled.

I have a cat that startles easily, so I started to click my tongue to warn her of my incoming pets if she's not looking. Now I can mace that noise and she perks up in excitement for the incoming love

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

I'm sure she's excited about mace

There's a stray cat around my apartment that doesn't even need the special sound. Dude comes outta nowhere as soon as he knows I'm around and climbs up my leg to get pets.
