Our lawn looked like it was going to need mowed. Our garlic sprouted. I'm worried the trees are going to bud. Shits about to get fucked, yo.

Winterpeg (aka Winnipeg) is missing its winter this year. We've only had 1 day of -20 C (average is 17 days by now) and snowfall has been minimal at best, with less than 14 days with any snowfall at all. In fact in much of Winnipeg there is still green grass showing through the skiffs of snow on the ground.
I work clearing snow and have worked less that 30 hrs since the beginning of Octorber. :/
It's kind of the same here in Ottawa. It feels like spring. It's just been raining non stop and consistently 1-5C out. I feel guilty for kind of liking it but I know it's fucked and is really going to mess with wildlife.
You guys have snowfall?
It hasn't snowed here at all. Just a lot of rain. People keep saying "better than snow! You don't gotta shovel rain, eh?" No, it's not better than snow. Do you know how fucked it is that is hasn't dropped below freezing and it's January?? You should be really concerned, not relieved.
The first day below -10° you know they're going to say "So much for global warming, Har har"
Assholes.
Hamilton Ontario is in it's longest run of >0c days ever. The last daytime high below 0 was mid January :/
We're also crawling with ticks these days. Can't take my kids to the neighbourhood park without having to do a thorough check every time
Here in Southern Ontario it's basically British winter; rain and fog, and practically zero snow so far.
How did that article not mention ticks and Lyme disease?
Goslings dying is sad, and changing farming practices will definitely have effects, but we're gonna have to deal with entire classes of parasites that weren't an issue last century.
This is horrifically tragic, for any and all species affected.
Having been in the wildlife/rehab space for the last few decades, this is unprecedented.
I went for a walk with my mum on Christmas day. We saw two squirrels fucking and she said "I hope they don't think it's spring". I guess she was right. 😬
Comment of the year right here lol
This is the best summary I could come up with:
The sight of two fuzzy goslings waddling after their mother on a dreary Wednesday afternoon in late December put Londoners in awe, but it's also raising concerns among environment experts.
"Eastern gray squirrels in this area, at least in southwestern Ontario, have had not two litters as they normally do spring and fall, but this year they had three and I've never seen that before," said Salt.
He's also never seen geese hatch eggs in December in the last 40 years that he's worked as a wildlife expert.
Gordon McBean, professor emeritus in geography and environment at Western University, fears the two little goslings may be a sign of a bigger issue on the horizon.
McBean, an outspoken advocate on climate change, believes Mother Nature's unusual behaviours will eventually become more and more common as the Earth continues to get hotter.
The mild December temperature is affecting how animals biologically respond to different weather conditions and, in turn, may disrupt ecosystems and wildlife altogether.

A good chunk of Canadians: “BuT cLiMaTe ChAnGe Is FaKe!!1!”
I come across these kinds of people - mostly boomers, but also a fair number of younger people - all the time. And frequently, there is a super-strong correlation between such fact denialism with both religiosity and conservatism. You come across a CPC or PPC supporter, or a deeply religious person (of one of the Abrahamic faiths), and dollars to dimes they’ll tell you that climate change is a leftist scam.
