Installing the front cover looks like an absolute bear of a job. I'm very much a tinkering type of guy, but any time I see glued screens I get nervous.
This is a shame, because I'd adore the transparent purple case.

Oh man, these look absolutely SICK. I'm way too much of a wimp to try to put one on though. I'd be too worried I'll break something while doing it.
I really like the shells but to be honest I'm more then likely going to leave my steamdeck as is. Maybe later down the road though, who knows?
Looking at these vs. the JSAUX ones I like that these stick closer to the original design without the unnecessary extra vent holes and metal plate. I definitely want to install one of these and possibly revisit my RGB mod. I'm conflicted though, for RGB mod the clear one would be best, but the atomic purple looks amazing. I think I'd probably go for the atomic purple because it matches my old GBC. I also have atomic purple shells on my Switch Joy-Cons and back cover.
My condolences! Would you interested in upgrading your screen or replacing it to stock?
I'm big fan of punchy colors which is my biggest motivator to upgrade to a 1200p display and scale down for performance. Counter intuitive I know, but the 3rd party screen is supposed to have higher color accuracy, or so I've read.
The vibrant deck decky plugin has quelled the itch for me giving me punchy colors. However, if I have to tear my deck apart anyway to do a shell swap anyway... Idk.. I just might replace my screen in the process!
The atomic purple is my absolute favorite. Do you have a link to the RGB mod? I'm curious to how much power the lights draw.
Question have you seen the 1200p screen upgrade. Do you think it would be worth it?

TL;DR it used too much power, follow up post:
I have seen the 1200p screen. Pretty cool idea but I'm not sure the Deck needs a higher resolution. 800p seems fine for the Deck's size to me, but I'm getting a ROG Ally next week so will have to see if 1080p is better at that size. I wish the replacement screen had VRR instead.
Keep us updated on the Ally. I'm curious about it. I think I've got more the. What I need on the deck. I tinker more then I play.
Just got an email saying it shipped and should be here Monday! Need to get a ChimeraOS install drive ready.
