An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

The accompanying screenshot is taken from a chromium browser. The URL is indeed correct: "punish." It's as if I'm being punished for not using the mobile app.

I've already accepted that I will encounter such a window, and that slider prompt almost constantly when I'm using Librewolf, but having tried accessing it via a Chromium browser, it's the same. Did I break any of their "necessary" trackers?

I try not to use the mobile app because it's such a resource hog, on top of its UXβ€Œ being annoying and confusing, and I'd rather just ditch Lazada than to use their mobile app.

I've got no love for Shoppee either, so I guess I'd just end up saving money (rather than buy stuff), lol!

Anyways, is it just me or is your Lazada.ph's web experience as bad as mine?

Edited post title to remove the unintended link.

SEA e-commerces' websites are bad. They know that they cannot collect your "whole" data with just a web browser. Di sila kikita diyan.

Which is precisely why I want to use it via a web browser, lol! It's a battle of attrition siguro for the likes of us, kung saan tayo bibigay.

Unfortunately, I'm spiteful enough to just stay away from Lazada completely if they make their website completely unusable.

I thought that it was just the ublock plugin breaking some things in their website but instead it's that their website is really just trash.

Same, suspetsa ko naman, either uBlock origin or my settings sa LibreWolf. Kaso eh, basura pala talaga website nila. Still more usable than their mobile app tho.

U left an itewm on u cawt UwU. Will u pwis check out 2 save moe UwU"

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

The problem is that they don’t use notification categories and mix promotions and spam with delivery updates or store message replies.

Its in the app settings for iOS too but idk, it feels like it never works.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Not very sure of this though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

It makes sense kung talagang gusto nila na sa app lang mag-check-out ang mga tao (since it's easier to suck up personal data that way).

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They want your info op thats for sure.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, pretty much. Also, my default assumption for any site that tries to push people into using their (dedicated) apps.

If you're on Android, you can set up a seperate account/profile just for Lazada (or similar apps) to making datamining slightly harder. Additionally, you can use Adguard DNS to block trackers while using the app.
