I am actually writing a better Android/iOS/Web client for lemmy :) not sure when it's gonna be ready though as I am already busy enough but keep an eye for an announcement maybe in the next month or so :) the idea is that its heavily inspired on the Infinity client for reddit.
Asklemmy
A loosely moderated place to ask open-ended questions
Search asklemmy π
If your post meets the following criteria, it's welcome here!
- Open-ended question
- Not offensive: at this point, we do not have the bandwidth to moderate overtly political discussions. Assume best intent and be excellent to each other.
- Not regarding using or support for Lemmy: context, see the list of support communities and tools for finding communities below
- Not ad nauseam inducing: please make sure it is a question that would be new to most members
- An actual topic of discussion

- sub.rehab: maps old subreddits to fediverse options, marks official as such
- [email protected]: a community for finding communities

I'd love to see it and maybe even use it! Keep up the good work for the community!
Eyo, me too! Which language/framework?
I'm so desperate for something like Apollo that I've downloaded Xcode and am going to try and learn how the hell any of this works.
Oh sweet. Infinity was what I personally used for reddit. Very underrated in my opinion.
Quwuality shitpowsting UwU
engage with content I like, try to produce some posts on communities that are dear to my heart, showing my critical gf the cute animal pictures and derpy jokes I find here.
I try to interact as much as possible
Iβve used lemmy and kbin exclusively since the 11th and havenβt given Reddit any traffic during that time
I read the stuff people post.
consoom
- Forked and fixed PDS so users can mass-edit comments and clean up / remove content from Reddit, while leaving a sign of the issue
- Wiped my own accounts clean, editing all comments, deleted accounts
- Have not gone back to reddit (won't go back)
- Started a community I didn't see here (trying to start another but bugs)
I'm going to make my first post! I'm really happy to be apart of this community!
After typing things out a bunch of times and deleting it, I'm making my first comment now! Soon a post, maybe.
Created a community and I'm trying to comment and upvote the most possible. Unfortunately, most people don't do anything.
I created a community for my regional area (Appalachia) and I try to interact. Posted pics of one of my cats, got the other to do next!
So far itβs just commenting and upvoting. The mobile interface isnβt the best tbh, but Iβm hoping to dive into everything on desktop when I have time this weekend.
I go back a couple times a day to lead those that won't convert to ad-free modded versions of the official app so reddit can't make any money off Android users by cramming ads down their throats.
Also been trying to lead more people to kbin.
I've been making at least 20 comments/day. It ain't much but it's honest work.
I was closer to 20 comments per year back on reddit
Same here.
Created several needed communities! Upvoting and boosting everything I see.
I created two communities for things I work on and enjoy, one for BlueMaxima's Flashpoint, a project I contribute to, and another for Audrey Hepburn.
I've also been posting daily more or less to multiple communities. I gained mod status on one after getting in touch with the person who created it who had been inactive for three years and polished it up with rules, a banner, and linking similar communities in the sidebar.
Also been trying to get mod status on another community to try and liven it up a bit as well, and am going to try for my local one should a local personality's request fall through.
I post news I find interesting or neato
Made a small community combining some hobbies/passions of mine that I'd like to see on kbin instead of reddit.
Iβve been commenting and interacting more than I would if this was on alien site.
That said, thereβs a few communities Iβve noticed donβt exist that Iβd like around, but Iβve never modded before and am worried about what the overhead is like to keep a community going.
depends on community size. only way to find out is to try. be the change... π
I've made some of the first posts in a few communities. I hope they end up taking off.
i'v been taking part in discussions all day, learning what i need to learn to be able to help, then getting ready to do specifically that.
i'v also been cluing some of the more confused reddit mods in to where this place is and figuring out how not to get shadowbanned in the process - make a reference to motorhead instead of naming lemmy himself. hopefully we'll get the earthquakes mod here soon
putting in the time to become a power user and help others is an often under-appreciated skill. good on you!
Commenting, upvoting, boosting, and seeking out inactive magazines on topics I'm interested in, then making posts. My local magazine would be /m/stlouis so I've made a couple of posts there. No traction yet but I'll keep at it.
Been commenting and trying to post a little. I did make my own community within the instance that I joined. May make a second one soon.
I've made more posts than usual (I usually only comment, not post).
I've also posted a bunch of issues to the kbin issue tracker and investigated the code for a few. Maybe at some point I'll actually contribute some changes, but admittedly setting up a dev env is a pain in the ass and I do enough dev for work that I don't usually have energy for more.
As I get more and more into the idea of just staying here (I really was hoping Reddit would have just pulled its head out of its ass), I may also recreate some communities that aren't yet here. Last I checked, my city didn't have one here.
Made various posts to help communities I'm interested in get off the ground, advertised my fave ones on other social media, helped a lot of people out during the influx earlier in the week so hopefully a few less of them bounce off Lemmy due to confusion. Haven't started any communities because I prefer to try and help build existing ones.
(I did briefly consider making a craft-focused instance but had a look at the docs and the tech requirements and noped out lol)
I created a community for Pathfinder RPG, I've been starting to build up content. I also have tried to be active in tech and science communities.
So far I've made 2 or 3 posts, more than I did my time on reddit, I offered help in a new community, and I've left an unhealthy amount of comments lol.
I'm engaging in worthwhile discussion, which I think is super important, cause for some like me, they're really here for the comments.
I got my long time lurker SO to come over, and actually make posts, 3 so far which a huuuge deal for her.
I've been commenting, upvoting and posting. Though for some reason I haven't been able to post anything since yesterday - It gives me an error code no matter how many times I try, does anyone know anything about this? I want to post more cat pics darn it!!
As someone who has absolutely zero knowledge about servers and stuff I can tell you with certainty that the servers are overwhelmed and that's why uploading is throttled.
Ah thought so. Glad we're getting more people! Can't wait to see the magazines fill up a bit more.
Trying to comment more (its a slow process) as this place feels smaller and less noise. Id love to make a community i am just trying to think of something. Its really nice to see lurkers like me step up and join in i hope to speak to you lurkers in many more threads!
I created the Wayfarers' Haven instance - that was my first time working with Ansible, dockers, and setting up an environment quite like this. Talk about a learning curve! I also created multiple communities and have been active in supporting others.
