Just so you guys are aware, the point of those bots is they do the comment repost and once they get upvoted they edit their comment to provide links to a fake subreddit that contains links to Trojans/phishing software. It becomes wack a mole because when one account gets banned for malicious links, the runner has others to either edit their comment or start the next post.

The con they run is kind of complicated and they've been doing it for over a year.

It's not about zooming. I zoomed in and you still can't read the first image, because the image isn't high quality enough. I am guessing it got compressed when you uploaded it to the image website. Stop being condescending when you're the one who can't upload a readable image.

Can you provide links to the Reddit posts in the screenshots? I found the post on the right, but I couldn't find the post on the left. If it was deleted, then it could be available in an archive.

So student loans won’t be forgiven, from the looks of it…

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Not only am I not reading that. I couldn’t even if I wanted to. It’s compressed into blurriness.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There are 3 additional, smaller/better resolutions photos on this post. But PLEASE, let me spoon feed you.

If you were to SKIM (dear god please don't read ALL of this text), do you notice anything about the right picture that is the same as the picture on the left?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is still compressed to dog shit. But thanks for spoon feeding me from a place I don’t go to anymore and ruining my eyes at the same time.

✌️

the future of the Internet will be 99% bots arguing with each other. AI is already taking over

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Well, they are doing a great job imitating us. Lemmy has really increased in the arguing/negativity as well.οΏΌ

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They’re taking out jobs!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (5 children)

And Lemmy is mostly bots reposting content from Reddit coming from bots.

It's all bots.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

To shreds you say?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just as I said with my other comment. Some of the consumers came here, and they want to be fed, so the bot-makers send bots to take content from Reddit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why can't they be cool cartoon robots, like Bender or XJ9 from Nickelodeon?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"We'll make our own social media! With black jack and hookers!"

You and me? Bots.

I'm fact it's bots all the way down.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I wish I was a bot. Stupid fragile meat body...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Me too, fellow meat bag!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I'm not a bot.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

botland ._.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (7 children)

I’m gonna need some explanation and annotation my man I’m not reading all that

[–] AdmiralShat 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You don't actually need to read it, just skim through and notice all the user names. It's all copy pasted and all the user names are different

It's proving that tons of comments, even in long chains, are bots reposting

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

That is the default for any new Reddit account since I don’t know when.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

On the right is a very popular post, on the left is the exact same post from very recently.

The left contains the exact same content, by about 10 different bot accounts w/ one another.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hmmm okay, fascinating. I imagine this has taken off a lot more since LLM AI started gaining traction.

Very interesting, good post

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So to me it looks like the post with all the upvotes is the original, and the other one is a copy with alt accounts mimicking every single comment. Other than the upvotes, most of those accounts have some arbitrary number tacked onto the end of their username.

Other than the upvotes, most of those accounts have some arbitrary number tacked onto the end of their username.

It's not a useful distinction for determining whether someone is human or a bot. Reddit began suggesting usernames a few years ago and they all look like Randomword-Randomword-Randomnumber. I've read comment chains in the past where newer Reddit users were even unaware that they could choose their own account name. There just seems to be a new generation of people who can't even be assed to read the signup prompts and just keep clicking "OK" until they have a brand new Reddit account.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

So, what do you're saying is that some click bots are made from flesh.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

If people are too stupid to read signup prompts, they may as well be considered bots for all intents and purposes

I'm not a bot. How do I prove that? Titty cum and shit dildos. Bots won't say that.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

One just did tho.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

That’s what the consumers want - they want to read entertaining content with no contribution of their own. The will leave when the content gets too repetitive (if it ever does). The just like being fed.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Reddit are just bots? That explains why all the posts that start with "BWD..." are false advertising.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And Lemmy is almost entirely memes once you leave your subscriptions and venture into the "all" category.

The rest is a combination of politics and bitching about Reddit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

My all is mostly bots posting articles with a comment saying screw, whoever or whatever it is about with 50 upvotes. (If there’s any activity). And if you want to activate any thread just say something that would piss off a β€œwoke” helicopter parent.
