This post is kind of spoiler-y. You've been warned. I also can't figure out spoiler tags on Jerboa (if you know, please help!).

We've had a blast running through the campaign. Starting in Krezk, the first experience our party had took them to the winery. Sure, that's normal enough. The Martikovs are a weird bunch, but we're helping get wine for the village. Then, the Abbott. Oh god, I've had so much fun with the Abbott ever since. They decided to use Ezmerelda's plan for the most part, only they're taking the bride to Strahd as part of the dinner.

Along the way, they've made a number of allies. Rictavio, Urwin, and of course Ezmerelda. It's a small army going to Ravenloft. The showdown is going to be epic, and my players have no idea the danger in store for them at the castle.

How was starting in Kresk for you? I quite liked the progression from barren village of Barovia to a more populated place in Vallaki. Was it hard to get them started on the Ireena stuff?

Really pleased to see a CoS post here, that's the subreddit I'm going to miss the most! I copied some of Mandy Mod posts that I'll need later before it went private but it's going to be sad not having that community anymore. Do you think people would use a CoS community on lemmy?

Honestly, I feel that CoS is more of a common thread between tons of players. Sure, everyone's got their own tables, homebrew, or oddities. But CoS is probably the most well regarded official module and I'd wager most DnD enthusiasts have their own tale or two from the module. Let it be something to mull over in the overall DnD community if you ask me.

Definitely! Curse of Strahd is by far my favorite official 5e campaign and the only one I was willing to run more than once. (I am actually running it for the third time now. :D )

Yeah the more I think about it the more I'm going against the idea. I found the subreddit discord as well which helped lol

Well, that's a thread that we just started pulling on in the end game. Ireena hasn't been presented really, but Tatyana's soul has been talked about.

Strahd has one major flaw - he can easily be grappled. His lack of athletics and acrobatics bonuses really put him at a disadvantage compared to day, a fighter or barbarian. Keep this in mind.

Never engage with the party unless you have the advantage. Make them EARN their kill and close out the campaign (coming from a DM who got grappled and Strahd died in the 3rd engagement).

Don't worry, spoiler tags on Jerboa don't seem to work right now. The markup works on web, but the spoilers are in plain view on Jerboa for some reason.

Glad to hear you're having such a great time! I've been DMing CoS for a bit now, currently my party just left Vallaki after... certain events, and circled back around to the windmill now that they're a couple levels higher.

Haha, my party is actually banished from Vallaki after they picked a fight with a certain right-hand man. The Baron was less than pleased...
