This meme shows up here way too often...like every other day....

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Obviously there’s a need for people in this comm to uninstall their boot loaders, and a frustration that Windows won’t let them.

Noticed that too, my memory is absolute godshit and even I remember having seen it at least twice now in the current recency.

In case anyone is wondering, that pile of symbols means true in brainfuck

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 year ago

I wasn't wondering. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait, all of that for just a Boolean true value or is that some sort of logical expression?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Maybe it’s the string “true”?

Me: "I'm going to change Python3 default to >3.7" Ubuntu: scream in exceptions

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

pyenv and chill. Practical default it in your shells without messing with what installed packages expect.

Yeah, but still those packages should probably not be calling the generic python3 if they need a specific version of python. If they depend on system installed pip packages, there's got to be a better solution.

Wait... Microsoft is still pretending that having their web browser installed is vital to the continued operation of their OS?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Mac does the same. You can't remove Safari and you can't sudo chmod 0 /Applications/Safari.app

Ask me how I know 😒

Well, in their eyes, it seems vital to be sending me adverts as notifications, I guess it's probably also vital that those adverts have a browser to link through

Did we not teach them a lesson about this in the 90s?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

The lesson they learned in the 90s is that you can drag a trial out long enough to get a favorable administration in office to give you a slap on the wrist.

Isn't it required for all networked services they provide via windows (for example windows update, network connectivity checks, etc)

The first thing I do on every install. Delete the bootloader and all the bloat files in /. Especially those goddamned .files

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (15 children)

Rookie numbers. Between Reddit, Twitter and Lemmy, I'm at 50+ right now.

Please, have mercy, I have seen this meme sooo many times already...

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Back when Windows 98 just released and I was a kid, my friend's dad used his Acer boot CD to boot into DOS and rename the Windows directory to Linux.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

C is the same. Free to do whatever you want until the system stops you. Yet people hate coding in C for some reason, as there isn't enough hand holding.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (5 children)

Where C stop, continue in Assembly!

I recognized it as Brainfuck, but assumed it was going to be a fork bomb for some reason.

Uninstalling the bootloader will brick your device.
Are you sure you want to uninstall the bootloader?

Society has stopped to extremes.
