Widely regarded as the best Seinfeld episode is The Contest. It's about who can go the longest without masturbating, but what makes it great is that they never say that explicitly

it's just euphemisms and insinuation. And it's hilarious IMHO.

I believe they initially wanted to spell it out, but the networks wouldn't let them (I could be wrong). Definitely for the better that they danced around the topic the way they did.

(Yes I know, Jerry Seinfeld is a problematic person, I'm just trying to answer the question...)

If I'm getting what you're asking, "Jaws" is a famous example. Obsticle was: shark animatronic looks really bad. A solutiin: let's not show it almost at all... which likely made a movie better.

Jurassic Park too. The first movie is over two hours long, and only has something like 12 minutes of dinosaur footage. And most of that is practical effects like puppets. That’s why the CGI hasn’t aged poorly; it’s not CGI.

I'm trying to get an ADHD diagnosis as an adult. If I could do all these things, I wouldn't need the diagnosis!

Word to the wise (and you're gonna hate this and NOT want to do it but you must): accidentally "miss" your first appointment or responding to any confirming communication from them. Wait a stupid amount of time like 3-6 months and get back in touch and lament your negligence and that you'd be grateful for a second chance

Its counter intuitive but its what a bona fide ADHDer would always have happen to them

Also, if and when they restore your appointment, always do exactly what they say and follow the process. It helps if you've had a crazy life. Don't be too eager—you're not here to "get" anything, you're here to "learn what you are"

If the dr is not already there to throw pills at ya there's no use lying or tricks. Just be honest about the insane things you have to do to keep up and reach baseline

I feel a little called out, because I 100% forgot to respond to my psych about scheduling an appointment for like 6 months. It probably contributed heavily to my diagnosis.

And now that I’m thinking about it, I need to schedule a follow-up appointment…

Honestly, I don't even have to pretend. I'm currently on a waitlist to see someone about it, but I've forgotten when and who so in just waiting until they call to tell me I missed it.

Just make sure you aren't overeager/overqualified ;)

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking me

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Are you gonna let a puny little obstacle like that stop you?!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You know what, no.

Ham & cheese please

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would also like a ham and cheese.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Well, shit, if they’re taking orders, I’ll have a bhuna gosht with basmati and an order of naan, please.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Now I want to change my order, because that sounds pretty good.
