Chalk up another failure of leadership.

Good and stay out.

A good thing. The orange cancer will side with Russia anyways. Wish more cough all cough countries would turn their backs and say piss off to that addled old twatwaffle.

Good, the US can fuck right off. Trump is a nincompoop as are his followers. No way they’d be capable of solving a geopolitical conflict.

Once again demonstrating how unreliable the American government has become.

It will be a very long time before the international community trusts America.

The international community should think of the US as an adversary like Russia or North Korea because that is what it is now.

Pariah state is the designation I have started to use.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

No, think of the worlds far right sympathizers like that, not all US citizens want this bullshit I sure as shit don't.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 day ago

I thought the invasion would end 80 days ago. Trump said so. 🤭🤡🤡🤡

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Putin wouldn't fold. Trump doesn't know how to handle that so he noped out.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 day ago (5 children)

You mean Zelinsky wouldn't fold. Trump never wanted Putin to actually fold.

So much for ending the war in one day.

[–] [email protected] 48 points 1 day ago

Well, at least the US did remove a giant obstacle to a lasting peace from the war - Trump.

And with the US-Ukraine Ressource Deal being singed too. So they bascically Held Ukraine at gunpoint Dekanding all their remaining Ressources while Russia raped them. The US is no longer trustworthy. They now sit Back, while Europe will have to steer the War Into a favorable direction, b/c they have to. If Russia eins or loses does Not Matter anymore for US, b/c they will benefit either way.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

The US is no longer trustworthy.

And it will take a lot of time and effort from the Americans to regain the trust of the international community.

Probably a good thing, the US sucked at it anyway. Ukraine was going to be forced to concede so much… Art of the Deal strikes again.

[–] [email protected] 77 points 2 days ago (8 children)

Nah, Trump got what he wanted, the minerals deal. Now he can keep sanctions on China for longer while we strip mine Ukraine for rare earth minerals.

[–] [email protected] 83 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Lol, we aren't going to be mining anything. Rare earth minerals aren't rare because they're only located in isolated places, they're rare because they are only present in small amounts when mining other materials.

The hard part is the refining of rare earth minerals because it requires large investments in refineries to separate the materials and consolidate them. Infrastructure that Ukraine or America haven't invested in.

The minerals deal is just something that trump can point to as a "win" when in reality it's not worth anything. Just like everything this administration does, it's nothing but smoke and mirrors.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago

Ukraine doesn't even have significant rare earth deposits. Nothing worth mining.

However, those aren't the only thing in the deal. Bunch of other minerals are in there, and oil and natural gas.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 day ago

In that case, looks like Zelenskyy had the cards.

Bro the US isn’t going to mine shit in an active war zone. The mineral deal might be beneficial if peace is reached but not before that.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago

Typical Trump deal: nothing substantial, but he loudly claims credit for it anyway.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

[–] [email protected] 116 points 2 days ago

Ironically, that might be the most useful contribution to eventual peace in Ukraine the US has made for some time now.

Thanks, I guess.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

Such a FLOTUS. It's all lies and empty promises, coated in idle boasting. What a fucking loser.

[–] [email protected] 91 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Another promise broken. What a loser.

“We got what we wanted I don’t give a fuck now” - Trump.

Question is: now that we got the big loud bully out of the house, can the EU and maybe someone else who is sensible, like Canada, enter the room and bring actual diplomatic value to this sharade?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Probably not. Russia's motives dont stem from a communications failure. They stem from predatory imperialist intent, and they arnt scared of the EU or Canada.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

If Europe shows resolve, Russia's ambitions will crumble.

This was pretty much what Michael Kofman predicted was going to happen months ago. As long as Russia feels that they can prevail militarily and is making maximalist demands based on that, and Ukraine is unwilling to accept those terms, there's not really much room for mutually-acceptable terms.

Even if they got something on paper, that's not likely to translate to a durable peace.
