I didn't know which community to post something in and so here we are.

Please comment if you know a more appropriate community for a post.

MODERATORS

FYI: Alegria "Art", or the larger "Corporate Memphis" style is flat-color, anatomically-distorted slop associated with corporations and used by Facebook, Google and others.

Yes, I could make a community but I'm not here often enough to moderate one.

instructions unclear, made a alegria art porn community.

sadly porn is illegal in Algeria :(

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Instructions even more unclear, made a "fuck algeria" community.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

We need a "fuck alegria art" community

But why? What for?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago

it's a cynical aesthetic movement

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

iirc most of the hate is just because 90% of the use for the artstyle is just soulless corporate advertising/website filler

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

It's soulless and blandly inoffensive. Perfect for corporate slop. Certainly don't see many corporations embracing Soviet Realism.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It will probably get replaced by generative AI slop soon so middle managers don't need to pay anyone

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Replaced? Rather, I think the quantity of it will allow generative AI to be better trained to create more of it

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

I certainly have come to associate it with Black Mirror-style tech dystopia and corporate greenwashing.

So, you want somebody else to create and moderate a community for you...based on something that you hate. Do I have that right?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes.

It wouldn't be the first community defined by antagonism to something, there is [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and even [email protected] despite a non-significant number of AI proponents around. The corresponding subreddit r/fuckalegriaart has 57K members. So it's not just me, and hating something is a valid basis for a community. I technically could create it but there are better hands it could be in. So I guess I just should, based on the reactions I see I don't expect much traffic anyway.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

It doesn't sound like a community that would be very demanding in terms of moderation.

Just associate the artstyle to porn and believe me it will be abandoned faaaast

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That would require it to be remotely attractive. Ain't no one getting turned on by that bullshit.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

"fuck alegria art"?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

This art style screams "I have a passion for graphic design" idk why. Sorry to the artist. I hope they were paid handsomely

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

Ugh. That shit would be fine if it didn't have association with startups making a shitty online service that dies in 3 months

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

I think /c/r34 does that sort of content.

It really is just corporations being able to suck the life out of anything isn't it?

That was beautifully animated and this art style does seem to work really well with animation.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

it has the wiggly non-anatomical figures and flat coloring, but the artistic vision behind it renders it not nearly so soulless and upsetting

(though imho it's p mid considering Caravan Palace's other music and videos)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not gonna lie, I do like the music video. It's probably because the wider context and overall actions of the character add personality that the corporate art style she's drawn in have removed, and the odd proportions play well with the frequent perspective distortions in scene transitions etc.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

In other words - don't hate the player, hate the corpo.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

i do like the artstyle. mainly cause it reminds me of tge weird oldschool adobe reader logo theme. also i would rather see a thick black girl jogging in a loginpage, than a generic half torso trying to represent everyone.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I like this style, it's goofy!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It somewhat reminds me of the style used on Kurzegestatz or however the fuck you spell it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

I don't think I've ever spelled this word correctly even once, haha. I just know it has a K, a U, R, and a random smattering of other letters that I feebly try and type out. Google can usually understand what I was trying to spell :P

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

the style itself isn't a problem.

the problem is that it has been used by so much souless corporate slop, it has become obnoxious and dystopian.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

So it's the welcome page equivalent of the Lobster typeface

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Well... yeah

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Company I work for announced some new branding recently. Saying they wanted to be different. Its literally the same as everything else but in green. Oh, how adventurous they must have been feeling.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

But why? It’s so whimsical and carefree
