Too naive
Let's negotiate what the aggressor wants, in order to stop the aggression.
this is the reason why we dont negotiate with terrorists. There should be no gain by bullying

We, in Europe absolutely negotiate with terrorists in order to save our citizens lifes. (Just as it happened many times with the pirates in Somalia, and other parts of the world).
It's just the americans who are too cheap to save their citizens, and try to justify it with this stupid policy
americans who are too cheap
or too obsessed with "power"
A missed opportunity.
Absolutely. On the other hand this shenanigans put pressure on our economy and we need to get back on track and prepare for the next round of Trumps grifter moves.
This move is a method to counter sane washing of the US regime. When the negotiations fail, the EU is "forced" by Trumpist irrationality to act. The countertarriffs couldn't as easily be framed as "attack on the US".
Giving trump and couch fucker more excuses to make fun of us.
I wonder what will the eu finally do after two years of pauses, projects, meetings and letters. Probably shit the bed when italy becomes second hungary and germans finally get their far right government. Then theyβll tell us to vote harder or something.
Asked why the Commission would not retaliate against the remaining tariffs, which are nevertheless expected to hurt the EU's export-oriented economy, a spokesperson said the top priority was to find a compromise with Washington
"We've pressed the pause button to allow space for negotiations. Yes, the US steel and aluminum tariffs are now in place, not just against us, but against the entire world. And yes, the car tariffs are in place," the spokesperson, Olof Gill, said.
"But we're not going to take further steps because we want to leave space for negotiations," he added. "We want to talk to our American counterparts."
I thought they had a reasonable approach until this part. They need to match the tariffs imposed by Trump. Otherwise he'll see that as a sign of weakness and mob the floor with them in the "negotiations". You all saw what was done to Ukraine and Zelensky.
At least the stock market is gonna keep going up again until the next escalation or if negotiations fail.
Already dropping again. So not even until then...
Of course it is. The only thing worse than arbitrary tariffs are unpredictable tariffs. Right now no one can plan their business more than one week in advance and even that feels like gambling.
My portfolio was green when OBEX closed .
Not by much and itβs probably red again tomorrow but one can hope
