I haven't played around with it yet, but it looks neat

This small but mighty update includes some exciting new features and improvements to Zen, such as passkey support for MacOS, and a media player controller that's fully integrated with Picture-in-Picture mode.

I was a user, I even recommended it to people, but since the discovery of this issue I feel uneasy to continue using/recommending it. That dev response is appalling.

Wow, thanks for bringing this to light. I just installed Zen and started contributing to it, it's sad to see this. What browser do you use now?

I got back to Firefox, I’ll try Floorp next, just to see how it goes.

Why would you be recommending a alpha/beta software to people? It just went stable last week, and I still wouldn't recommend it based on how young the project is.

Recommends people to use alpha/beta software. is surprised it has alpha/beta issues.

I honestly feel uneasy trusting any advice you have.

Wow, harsh.

It’s not like this is an oopsie bug, this is a major vuln knowingly indroduced by the dev, and their response is somewhat shocking.

I recommend plenty of alpha/beta software to people, of course with the disclaimer that it’s not done yet, but sure, feel free to not trust me at all, stranger :)

For the record, I did not encounter major bugs in my ~1 month of usage.

I like Zen, but recently everytime I open a new window it opens up a weird, blank window as well.

You can disable the state-less empty tab if you set zen.urlbar.replace-newtab on disabled in about:config

Found in release notes 1.8b:

Added support for a state-less empty tab (only enabled if 'zen.urlbar.replace-newtab' is enabled)

Thanks for this, but that setting was already disabled, unfortunately. This feels more like a bug than a deliberate result of a chosen setting.

It changes very fast, I've been going through a cycle of

  • months with no issues
  • a week of dealing with a very annoying issue

They changed the new tab / split tabs feature recently and I think it broke some things

Randomly my thumb browsing changed from back/forward to swapping the workspace.

I’m about done with this browser tbh.
