I don't get any after I made one cry. I simply asked them if they were happy with their life, if they are proud of what they do, what if I was their parents or grandparents? They hung up after a watery "shut up". Any I get are dead lines or immediate hang ups on their end now.

I use SpamBlocker, available on f-droid, it's very effective.

Never answer.
It indicates that there's a 'live' one, and you'll get more exponentially. And that data is shared immediately....

It blows my mind that people still think answering and yelling at them is a good idea. Aren't they usually recordings now anyway?

If I get spam texts, I send pics of mutilated genitals.

I never pick up calls from numbers not in my contact list.

Usually I don't answer. If it's actually someone I know but they got a new number not in my contacts, they should know to text me first.

In some cases though, if the spam calls start to get relentless, I'll answer as though I'm a business...

"Thank you for calling Ding Dong Double Dildos & Dirty Devices, how would you like to fuck yourself today?"

They usually can't think of anything to say and just hang up, and more often than not they'll remove the number from the calling list. 😂🤣

“Thank you for calling Ding Dong Double Dildos & Dirty Devices, how would you like to fuck yourself today?”

Nice one 😂

Haha, you might want to practice that one for a short while first, it's a bit of a tongue twister.

Check with your carrier. Some carriers offer free spam blocking services. For example, T-Mobile has an unpaid tier of their “scam shield” service that you can turn on and configure through their app.

I don't say anything when answering an unknown number. Real callers will always have some background noise, while spammers will be dead quiet and only assign a scammer to talk to you once you trigger the mic.

Useful for when unknown callers are expected - applying for jobs, etc.

I noticed as well that don't saying anything helps.

Yet Another Call Blocker. Works great, though not perfectly. I rarely get calls that ring through, mostly because I only allow contacts to ring.

Android has a "block and report" option. It works. Sometimes I see that the call is from spammers even before actually answering.

Android seems to block most of them for me. I might get 1 per month or something, and just don't answer it.

I haven't received any after I threatened lobotomy with a chainsaw. What they're doing isn't legal; are they gonna run to the cops with those threats?

The above is actual spam/scam calls, such as the ones from "microsoft" about a problem with my computer. Yeah, I'm on linux.

I'm a bit more lenient about the people who call me about something annoying and similar - They're just doing a (legal) job. I save them the time and hassle by interrupting their pitch with a firm "Not interested". Sometimes I ask how they got my number, as it's illegal to cold call s9meone here under certain circumstances. I've managed to get off of a few lists this way.

It is why, even on Graphene, that I still use "Phone by Google".

Still the best baked in Spam-Caller-ID/Blocking I find.

Installed from the playstore mirror, it is pretty locked down at least, like no Gemini, no Hold For Me/Scam Detection Ai.
