If the government offered free skills training to be prepared in case of emergency I’d take them up on it.

It’s a good idea, but I’d like to see more so that even, say, an older person with disabilities could join.

The article mentions first aid, organization / coordination, and search and rescue training as being fundamental. There's something for the whole family!
