I'm finally getting to replacing my ISP-provided Huawei router for, well, something - anything - else. When sifting through options available locally I've noticed Fritzbox 4060, which is not a name ice heard ever before. I didn't find much info about neither the company nor the product (except for marketing info and basic technical specs, which look fine for me). I guess I could've looked up some German sites (and believe the automated translations, cause my German is almost nonexistent) but I'm honestly interested in opinions of the people in this community.

So, what's up with AVM?

EDIT: Thank you for your replies! Seems like I'm going to buy the bullet and buy myself a Fritzbox, then!

My (old) ISP provided a fritzbox, one of the best ISP provided routers I have ever used, but if you have the time and money they are better "prosumer" options out there.

Don't know how Fritz compares to other big router companies but I'd personally go for an open source router like the OpenWrt One instead.

I have OpenWrt running on a Fritzbox!

They're basically the go-to router company for Germany, nowadays majority-owned by a Dutch investment group.

Almost everyone uses their routers in Germany. I'm happy with them, never even used a different brand. Not as happy with their repeaters though, the ones I've had tended to overheat.

You see their products a lot in The Netherlands and usually have good reputation

Had some consumer stuff from other companies before, but once I got a Fritzbox I was sold. The interface works well, you get more options than on similarly priced other products and so far they've been extremely reliable. I now run two fb as access points, a fb as the house's main router and several smart thermostats. Had their powerline solution before we moved to a new house that didn't need it. Wouldn't ever go back to something else - unless they turn to shit after being sold or something.
