My current go-to is Auto-TerraFirmaCraft which combines TFC with Create. It has a lot of custom recipes to fit the two together. Perfect for playing along while watching a let's play series at the same time.

If you're looking for something that's like Minecraft, but not, and overhauls especially the early game (which is virtually non-existant in Vanilla), along with lots of later-game mechanics, but you also enjoy the fun contraptions you can build with Create to automate and generally be creative with, this could be worth checking out? Warning though, it might take a while to unlock Create machines. (I'm still in the copper age, myself.)

I didn't realize TFC was out yet for modern versions. I'll have to check it out,

I'm playing "Better than adventure" which has the Beta feel and without most of the stuff that was added afterwards (no hunger, xp, enchantments). Early game is hard! :)

I just reached the Brass age in my Create world (+ some QoL mods).

I've added Rotary Skies to my list of mods I'd like to try.

Cool! I saw a vid on Better than Adventure but never got around to checking it out.

I wanted to try terrafirmacraft for years, so at first I tried technodefirmacraft. It was great and I got to the end of tfc and beginning of immersive engineering and pneumaticraft. However, once I was kinda forced to use rockhounding chemistry mod, I was thrown right off. Never in my life have I seen such overcomplicated mess of a mod.

Thankfully, I then found allthemods gravitas, which is better in every way imaginable.

I tried TNFC back in the 1.7.10 era, but never got past a bronze anvil. TFC is fun but can be so tedious to progress in sometimes.

I absolutely recommend trying allthemods gravitas. It's a blast

I am currently playing Divine Journey 2, SuperSymmetry and Gregtech: New Horizons depending on my mood

I've been playing Evolve - To the Moon and Beyond. You progress through 6 (?) "stages" (quest chapters), working through several tech mods and automating pretty much everything. I'm a couple checkmark tasks away from completing stage 1 (beginning of Create), but I'd like to automate andesite alloy and shaft production first. I'd also like to get some decent builds going. I have a half-baked idea for what to put around my storage and power generation, but nothing for basic resource production.

I came from FTB Skies. Coming from a modpack with that kind of resource abundance makes this one feel like a grind until you get brass, but then it feels great to start running things through that mesh.

I started ATM8 recently after I more or less finished ATM7sky (got infinite stars but I want to work through the whole quest book) as my first finished modpack. Also still improving my base design.

Just started replaying MC Eternal, for the nostalgia
