I'm at 50% brightness with reading mode/night light turned on and I had to squint my eyes to read what the workspace names are.
The only reason I could possibly imagine people like light mode is if they work in bright environments or use an e-ink monitor. Otherwise your eyes would be on fire quickly.

Not a fan of solarized tho
This one is nice. Don't see it being too burny, just nice and toasty, since it's not pure white eye-searing fire.
